Durban’s legendary summer holidays are officially here and Suncoast, Durban’s premier entertainment destination is a sure gamble for loads of family fun and entertainment!
“We have some fun-filled activities for all members of the family, both young and old,” says SUNCOAST Marketing Manager, Louise Howell. One of the newest activities launched is ‘Story Telling at SUNCOAST’, which takes place on the last Sunday of every month from 10:30am to 11:30am.
Children between the ages of 4 and 11 are taken on a magical journey of exciting tales written to both educate and entertain young minds. Local storytellers, Sally Garrioch and Kasia Vosloo read entertaining, thought-provoking and educational kids’ stories in an interactive environment that also involves face painting.
“The art of storytelling is one that is slowly disappearing but is an essential part of our daily lives,” Howell says. “We witness this art in movies, TV series, theatre performances and so on. When the idea was first suggested, we instantly jumped on it. Stories are meant to entertain and inform – a business that we, at SUNCOAST are all about,” Howell adds.
SUNCOAST’s monthly musical sessions, Sunday Beats will see Durban’s well-known and up-and-coming musicians such as Chico Muya, Llewelyn Chetty and Hunter take to the stage, entertaining patrons and passersby on the SUNCOAST promenade.
Bringing a whole new flavour of dance and hypnotic rhythm is the Red Salsa Team who, as usual, will be hosting monthly Open Air Salsa classes. These free dance classes teach amateur dancers the steps and rhythmic moves of classical Latin dances such as the Salsa, Rueda, Kizomba and Bachata.
The Suncoast CineCentre features the latest Hollywood and Bollywood blockbusters along with family-friendly movie releases such as the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange, Skip Trace and Fantastic Beats & Where to Find Them.
